Jordan Cashmyer, a young woman who appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, has passed away. At the time, she was 26 years old.

Jordan’s mother, Jessica Cashmyer, posted a statement on Facebook on Sunday announcing her death, which was written from the account of Jessica’s late husband and Jordan’s father, Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr.

Jessica opened her message, which was penned beside a black and white portrait of Jordan, by saying, “Last night I received a call no parent ever desires.”

“My oldest and dearest daughter, Jordan, lost suddenly at the age of 26,” she continued. “Our hearts are shattered. No parent should ever have to experience the loss of a child.”

Jessica wrote, “Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this awful loss.” “Please be considerate of our privacy at this time. Our children, granddaughter [sic] Lyla, and other family members shower us with love and support.”

Jordan’s cause of death has yet to be determined, according to Variety. Jordan died in Maryland.

Jordan was previously featured in a 16 and Pregnant episode from 2014. She appeared alongside her family and former boyfriend Derek Taylor, with whom she later parted after her stint on the show finished.

Jordan struggled to find job while on 16 and Pregnant and also endured homelessness as a pregnant adolescent when her family shunned her due to their disapproval of her relationship with Taylor.

Jordan’s problems persisted even after she gave birth to daughter Evie, as she eventually signed over temporary custody rights to Taylor’s mother in 2015, according to Variety.
